Hello there! My name is David, and I am a New York-based filmmaker and writer/director whose work centers on character-driven storytelling and explorations of the human condition. Known for a thoughtful and heartfelt approach, a musical sensitivity to pacing and rhythm, and a gift for capturing emotional subtext, my work often feels like they tap in to the human soul. I draw great inspiration from everyday observations and my curiosities about humanity’s idiosyncrasies. I was raised on movies, and I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and Directing cinema from the Rochester Institute of Technology, so if your love language is movies, I’m with you.
Throughout over a decade and a half as a visual storyteller, the type of projects that I make range from documentary-style to scripted narrative. I will often employ my love for stills photography as a way to visualize a project, facilitate inspiration, as well as document projects. Some might classify my skillset as hybrid or multi-hyphenate, while I view this diversity of skills as an adaptable toolkit in service of vision. I’ve found that ability to navigate breadth and depth are necessary to reach new heights.
Bonus Features, like how movies on DVDs/BluRay use to have: I love good stories, meaningful conversations, tea, sushi, rice bowls, a good bagel, doodling, and street photography. And there’s something about a thick slice of butter-griddled Japanese milk toast with a little smear of jam that is just the best.
A curated playlist that inspires my process.
Introspective, cinematic, and human. It carries moments of quiet contemplation, nostalgic lift, and emotional peaks — the same qualities and tones I seek when crafting stories. Enjoy the tracks individually or the list as a whole. I’ve ordered the list in a soft flowing arc as insight to my creative process.
